offer a variety of programs that can be tailored to fit your particular needs.
This can also include special needs groups with learning, emotional, and
behavioral troubles.
Length: Children's programs last approximately 90 minutes. Adult lectures last approximately 60 minutes. Full day or multi-day programs are also available. Group size: Smaller groups are encouraged for it helps to facilitate the learning process, but programs for any size group are possible. Prices: Programs begin at $150 plus travel expenses for those outside a 75 mile radius of our farm. Prices are based on the number of participants, age, and length. Contact for exact pricing. General overview: Lectures include a broad overview of characteristics, life cycles, classification, and "world records." This is presented through the media of slides, demonstrations, handouts, games, and hands-on activities depending on group size.
Geared towards elementary audiences. This is a general introduction to Lepidoptera: butterflies and moths. Students will learn the characteristics of Lepidoptera, their classification, and the differences between butterflies and moths. Geared towards any age audience. What is a butterfly farmer? How does one raise butterflies? Students will learn exactly what a typical day consists of, the various species of butterflies that can be shipped, and how they can raise caterpillars. Geared towards elementary audiences. This is a general introduction to insects. Students will learn the characteristics of insects, their classification, and their importance in our lives.
Geared towards elementary audiences. This is a general introduction to aquatic insects. Students will learn how to identify the basic groups of aquatic insects and how to gage general water quality based on the presence of these insects. *It is a marvelous introductory program for children who are scared of common insects.
Geared towards elementary audiences. This is a general introduction to insects through the use of hands-on activity stations which the children go through in small groups. Students will learn about the characteristics of insects, life cycles, the mechanics of flight, and their senses. Please note: This program is only suitable for groups of 60 and under. Also, there must be enough room to set up. Tables must be provided. (Most school cafeterias are a suitable staging area.)
Geared towards any age audience. This program covers the roles insects have played in various cultures through history. Students will learn about the Egyptians, Aztecs, and American Indians. Geared towards adult audiences. This program discusses a variety of unique and odd insects.
Geared towards school age audiences. This program teaches about insects through the use of books, movies, cartoons, toys, music, and dance. Students will learn about the general characteristics of insects, classification, and their importance in our lives. This program demonstrates how to incorporate butterflies and insects into your curriculum. It is the perfect compliment to an in-training day.
